Article Processing Charge
The African Multidisciplinary Scholarship Journal (AMSJ) operates an open-access publishing model. Authors are not required to pay an Article Processing Charge (APC) at the time of initial manuscript submission.
Payable only after editorial acceptance
Manuscripts first undergo editorial screening and, where appropriate, peer review. An APC is requested only after an editorial acceptance decision has been issued.
What the APC Supports
The Article Processing Charge supports the preparation and publication of accepted articles through the AMSJ open-access publishing workflow.
- Open-access publication of the accepted article.
- Article preparation and production.
- Publication metadata and bibliographic information.
- DOI field and registration workflow.
- Permanent article archive record.
- Online availability of the published article.
When Is the APC Payable?
The APC becomes payable only after the manuscript has received an editorial acceptance decision.
- Submission: No APC
- Editorial screening: No APC
- Peer review: No APC
- Revision: No APC
- Acceptance: APC becomes payable
- Production: After payment verification
APC Payment Workflow
Once an article has been accepted, the payment process follows the structured workflow below:
-

The editor records the acceptance decision and the corresponding author receives an acceptance notification. -
APC Payment Request
The accepted manuscript becomes eligible for APC payment. The author can access the designated AMSJ payment page. -
Payment
The author makes payment using an approved AMSJ payment channel and retains the transaction or payment reference. -
Payment Notification
The author submits the payment reference through the AMSJ payment notification process. -
Payment Verification
The editorial office verifies the submitted payment information before the manuscript proceeds to production. -
Copyediting and Production
Once payment has been verified, the manuscript proceeds through copyediting and production. -
Publication
The completed article is prepared for publication and made available through the AMSJ online journal platform.
Payment Status
Authors can follow the status of their manuscript through the AMSJ author portal. Payment records are associated with the relevant manuscript and its unique manuscript code.
- Pending: Payment has not yet been verified.
- Paid: Payment has been verified by the editorial office.
Authors should retain their payment reference until the payment has been confirmed by the journal.
Authors should use only the official payment instructions and payment channels provided through the AMSJ system. Authors should not send payment credentials, passwords or other sensitive financial information by email.
Open-Access Publication
AMSJ publishes accepted articles through an open-access model, allowing published research to be accessed online by readers without a subscription to the journal.
Publication Services
The publication workflow includes article preparation, bibliographic metadata, DOI-related processing, online article presentation and maintenance of the article's permanent publication record.
When contacting the AMSJ Editorial Office regarding an APC payment, authors should provide their manuscript code and the relevant payment reference where applicable.
